The Simple Lesson that turned Keir Weimer into a powerhouse Real Estate Entrepreneur: Never Give Up On Yourself
Keir Weimer is an expert in entrepreneurship and all things real estate, having founded and successfully grown multiple seven-figure companies in luxury real estate brokerage, hospitality development, commercial investment, lifestyle show and brand, and now a multimedia & education company. He has a passion for taking early-stage, novel ideas to market and growing teams, cultures and businesses around them. As an internationally-recognized luxury real estate & lifestyle entrepreneur, Keir is now focused on sharing his expertise and knowledge in these areas to help others grow their income, build wealth and create freedom in their lives, so they can live a life on their terms. He is doing this through his next-generation education, training and events company, Keir Weimer Multimedia, LLC.
Keir’s success and inspirational story was born as a result of a life-changing event that forever altered his path when he was in college. He was responsible for an alcohol-related boating accident that unfortunately and tragically killed his friend. Weimer served three and a half years in New York State prison for his crime. He overcame the adversity that became his daily life, learned how to live, forgave himself and worked to grow, heal and build himself back up in every sense. When Keir was released after being denied parole, he faced yet another massive wall he would have to breakthrough in order to grow and get to the next level: reintegrating into society, where he now was broke with no money, living at home in the basement, on parole with a curfew, no job and no prospects for a future he once dreamed of. However Keir didn’t give up, he never gave up, and he remembered how much harder it was just a few short months ago. Life is about perspective, and he again committed to finding a way forward no atter what to pursue his dreams.
Unfortunately, shortly after being released from prison, Keir faced another huge wall…which was a wall of rejection from every graduate school he applied to for a joint business & law degree. Not one gave him a chance to start a new path and story. He was again deflated, but far from defeated. Never giving up and always staying committed to his vision for a life of impact and purpose, Keir persevered. He decided right then and there he would be an entrepreneur, in every sense. No longer leaving his fate and his future in the hands of others to tell him if he was or wasn’t worthy enough to pursue and achieve his dreams for a new life of purpose.
He remembered his time incarcerated, where he had decided he would repurpose his life to one of sobriety, contribution, impact and redemption. Keir turned his motivation into success and transformed his life from prisoner to entrepreneur to business mogul. While he was away, he wrote a book called A Quest for Redemption to chronicle his time away, his stories and the observations of those around him. Fast forward to five years after his release, he had built several multi-million dollar companies in the real estate industry: from luxury brokerage team as the #1 Producing Agent and Team at his company, Select Sotheby’s International Realty, to hospitality development company, to commercial investment, to lifestyle show and brand, to multimedia company. His luxury properties and expertise in the brokerage space, have both been featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Bloomberg and several other major global media outlets. He is a sought-after and frequent speaker at industry events from Inman News and Sotheby’s International Realty to others, where he shares his expertise in a myriad of subject matter areas from luxury real estate, digital marketing, growing a team and business, as well as in areas of motivational stories of redemption from tragedy and how to live a life of purpose, on your own terms.
In addition, through his work speaking to at-risk youth in Driver’s Education programs, schools and back in prisons, Keir is spreading his message to help others. He helped the mother of his friend pass Tiffany’s Law in the New York State Legislature, to help reduce the amount of these types of horrible accidents. Writing and leading by example, Keir shares his lessons of strength, resilience, and adversity in the face of overwhelming odds, with others who are looking to build a successful business and life.
Today, Keir is also the Senior Vice President of Acquisitions at Odessa Realty Investments, a New York-based commercial real estate investment firm. Keir is also founder of The Thistle Island Group, LLC, a real estate holding company for commercial and hospitality investments Keir has organized and executed. Through this entity, Keir is building a boutique hospitality portfolio which includes Great Pines, recently voted #1 Best Resort and Hotel by Adirondack Life Magazine, as the leading luxury destination waterfront resort in upstate New York’s Adirondack Mountains. He also serves as the Executive Producer and Host of Live NY, a lifestyle and destination marketing show and brand. Keir is also the founder of Keir Weimer Multimedia, LLC, an education and information multimedia company, that focuses on sharing his expertise, strategies and experiences with the world through online courses, books, podcasts, events, masterminds and trainings.
Keir obtained a finance and economics degree from Syracuse University, and is currently finishing his master’s degree in real estate finance and investment at New York University’s world-renowned Schack Institute of Real Estate.
Keir is based in upstate New York in Saratoga Springs, but splits his time between New York City where he has offices and a residence, the Adirondack mountains of Upstate NY, as well as traveling the country and world. He’s currently working on a second book, and spends his time exploring the outdoors, traveling to new places and cultures across the globe, and is an avid reader, writer and athlete. Keir is passionate and most alive when helping people break-free from their current circumstances to create a life on their terms, and achieve freedom, wealth and happiness in this life. This is what Keir most hopes to be remembered for: helping others live better, more abundant and purposeful lives based on freedom….and a life on their terms.
