I met Nathaniel J. Peterkin who goes by Maj3sty, he is the CEO of Dan Fashion Entertainment LLC (Dan pronounced Don), which is an Independent Record Label. He is also a singer and a songwriter. He was born in North Carolina and is now advocating for living by the old testament. Something different. He is incorporating his livelihood as a Nazarite into his music, therefore, giving a new vibe to Trap Soul. He is a new unheard music wave but definitely needed — bringing God back into music. Or, as he says, “Jah.”

At 27, he has been able to receive iconic recognitions from labels such as 1017 Eskimo Records (Brick Squad), a collaboration with Sony Music, a Hit song in Nigeria, a TV show, and a better understanding of self. He believes that his ability to strive for spiritual advancement surpasses all of his material possessions. “Money does not make you rich; my richness is in life forever.” He says a quote by Bob Marley.

Building a brand

It is often a hard thing to make a name in the music industry because it has millions of people. However, Maj3sty has managed to build a name in the music industry. He attributes his size as a major factor that helped him establish a name. “I think that it’s a bit unorthodox to see a 6 foot 6, 240 lb. man singing about Jah (God) and love,” he says as he adds, “I write all of my songs, I’m consistent, and I came into this with a purpose. I’m my own competition, and I believe that these things set me apart from other artists.”

Hurdles

It is hard to believe that Maj3sty was homeless in 2014. He had been sleeping in his car for almost a year. In 2015, he was hospitalized and misdiagnosed with schizophrenia. He later had a road accident, but he says that “Jah” still had better plans for him, and he did not get hurt. He began to focus on his vision, and things worked out well.

Overcoming the Hurdles

He starts by thanking God when I asked him how he managed to overcome his numerous obstacles. “Without Jah, I would not be here, nor would I have been here,” he says. He taught himself to endure pain by realizing that pain is only temporary. He, therefore, changed his mindset and realized that the world does not exude the love that Jah possesses. He decided to become a warrior and decided to serve God to the best of his ability.

Great Projects

“Currently, my first BIG single “BIG STEPPA” (Release Date July 31st) has been my focal point after charting #3 in Nigeria, following Wizkid and H.E.R on the radio.” He will be launching his own TV show as he aims to introduce himself to the world and, most importantly, God or as he says, “Jah.” Maj3sty has high hopes, with a dream of being in GQ and Forbes. There’s no question that is possible.
