Meet Nicu Cociug, The 16 Year Old Entrepreneur Educating Others About Investing Through Social Media

Nicu is a 16 year old entrepreneur trying to make a change in the world by spreading the knowledge of investing. He was first introduced to finance by one of his much older friends who at the time suggested it as an idea for a career path. With over 600 students mentored and 100k monthly impressions on social media he strives daily to show others just how simple investing can be.

Background Story Before Success:

All background stories to success are different and unique in their own ways, some pasts were undoubtedly more difficult than others. Nicu was born in the poorest country in Europe, Moldova, which is surrounded by extreme poverty. He had to face many hardships growing up but those hardships were not only because of where he grew up. In 2009 Nicu’s family moved to the United States, he recalls having to get donations from food banks and take handouts from friends because of how poor his family was. Not only that, but his parents also weren’t around too much as they had to work in order to provide for their family. Nicu says “at this moment I vowed to myself to try my absolute best to never have my own children feel like this.” This led to him putting all his effort into trying to make some sort of income, which ultimately resulted in him getting into finance and stocks.

The come up:

The come up can happen at any point in someone’s life, Nicu started about a year ago when his 19 year old brother made him a trading account. He was only 15 at that time, but despite being so young he did not back down. He was so confident in his own abilities that he paid his older brother the couple hundred dollars he had saved up to get started, and with that he got to work. Nicu states he never really took finance and stocks seriously until some time passed. Once the covid lockdown happened, he used his spare time to learn about the markets and really dive deeper into everything. Taking any opportunity he saw to improve himself.

Obstacles faced:

Obstacles are bound to happen at some point in one’s career. Nicu states “There was a pretty steep learning curve that came with finance.” He then mentions an issue he had to face was the fact that he was so young when he originally became interested in finance, which led to those around him doubting his abilities and knowledge. Another issue Nicu stated was his mindset. He claims that the mindset of an investor is definitely a hard one to adopt, having difficult moments in this situation himself.

Overcoming obstacles:

Having ways to overcome obstacles is very important, especially since they are what make or break some people. What helped Nicu overcome these obstacles was that he was fortunate enough to have friends that were already in the finance field. With this, he would come to them for advice, as well as Google and YouTube which he claims are his other best friends for being such useful tools. To those doubting his knowledge because of his age, he would inform them about certain stocks or cryptocurrencies and show them when they would go up. Over time these people realized he had a knack for investing and that he was aware of what he was doing. He says one of the most difficult challenges he had to overcome was adopting the mindset of an investor. He believes that very few people have yet to fully master the investor mindset but credits his english teacher Mr. MCcrea. as his biggest help who once told him to always be the best version of himself.

In conclusion, Nicu has experienced many hardships in the past, but he never let them make him doubt his own abilities. His confidence is a very admirable trait especially since he began at such a young age, this level of confidence is something that usually takes years to develop, and even then, may never be perfected. Despite his overwhelming confidence, he still keeps an open and positive mind, not letting it take over him in any negative way. Nicu is clearly only going up from here, all that he’s accomplished in a year is only the start of his journey, and being only 16 years old we are excited to see where he goes.
