Jess, the Founder of Crow Creek Designs, is an example of a woman who has made an impact despite having a million naysayers. She owns and runs an artistic woodworking shop in Alaska that is on the verge of becoming a global phenom. She has quickly established herself as one of the leading brands in creative woodworking and epoxy.

She is a woman without limits who has a passion for art — woodworking, beadwork photography, and print. Jess has worked hard and put effort into her love for design and creating wooden material as she blends them with epoxy.

Background

As always, hard work pays. Her designs recently caught global attention, and iconic people like Team Gary Vaynerchuk in New York, DIY Network, Insider, and many others were interested in her art to either own it or showcase it. This resulted in Jess working with TotalBoat epoxy to create a white label high-end epoxy resin for art and furniture design.

MakerPoxy is growing from a local brand to a global brand in almost everyone’s household! It has entered the global market, and you can get it via Amazon and Jamestown Distributors.

How did she do everything, including going global?

In an interview with Jess, she tells us how hard it was to gather her wits and courage to start a brand. One thing she had in mind is that hard work and resilience never goes unrewarded. She knew that however hard it gets, as long as you do not give up, there will be a way.

Coping Up With Stress

To cope with a stressful day, she always takes breaks from whatever is causing the stress. Additionally, Jess has a unique way of dealing — she writes short notes that are brutally honest. Instead of speaking them out, she writes them because she knows what was spoken to someone can not be deleted, but you can destroy the notes you wrote. “I write down everything that is going wrong and how mad I am about it” says Jess. A day later, she shreds the paper or burns it.

She then moves a step away from work. She stops working on the projects because she knows she will not be productive if she is in a stressful spot. This is applicable for jobs like design that needs creativity. “Working on design while in stress mode, you will mess up more,” Jess says — she chooses to retreat instead of persisting on something that is stressing her.

She assigns the stressful task to another day and continues doing what is working out. This has made her productive in her projects.

Tips of Distress according to Jess

1. Learn to say “no” and mean it. The anxiety associated with just figuring out how to say “no” can sometimes be worse than just saying NO! Never underestimate the powerful release of stress from merely saying, “no, thank you.”

2. Reach out. Reach out to others who are smarter than you in any given area. Seeking advice isn’t a sign of weakness. It is, in fact, a sign that you are willing to grow and become a better you.

Sustaining Growth and Success

We have seen many companies and people thrive for some time then vanish into thin air. For Jess, her story is different. She has been growing and expanding exponentially. However, she says that it is not easy.

Pushing On

“You must be willing to push past any feelings of uncomfortableness to show others how it is possible,” says Jess. She has a goal to teach others by showing them that it is possible to start from nothing, and through diligence and hard work, you can have a thriving business.

She has been an iconic example of someone who has worked hard and gradually to achieve a dream and a goal.
