Haitian Canadian comedian Che Durena was born and raised in British Columbia and is based in Toronto after spending time performing standup in Mexico. He is best known for his work as a host and writer for My Most Amazing Top 10 (over 6.7 million subscribers), a content creator with Herb (14 million followers) and he has amassed a social media following of over 2.9 million with 48 million likes on his viral TikTok rants and commentary. Che has appeared on JFL All Access, Comedy Network, CraveTV and recently dropped his debut comedy album Tales From My Butthole. Specific goals motivate people to actually follow through with their plans, although Durenas goal isn’t one crazy plan. He states he just tells dumb jokes and his sense of humour is really low brow, but it resonates with alot of people. He adds on to this by saying “I’ve had people tell me that my jokes make them feel ok about who they are because they aren’t the only degenerate out there.” Che clears this up by mentioning that this isn’t his intention, his goal is just to make others laugh. Regardless, he expresses that it’s nice to know that some jokes really spoke to people.

Work

When asked what he does for a living, Che responds that he tells jokes on stage as well as online. Whenever he is not doing that, he creates content for some other companies. Leading him to work a lot, even when it’s not really his intention, he naturally gravitates towards this route. This is great for him regardless since comedy is his passion, creating content is what he does best.

Growth & Success

Durena mentions that he will continue succeeding by looking to accomplish the goals right in front of him. He never looks too far ahead, but rather just tries to focus on the present and what he needs to do right now. Keeping it one task at a time, a perfect technique to not set yourself into overdrive. A steady way to keep going. Che always keeps himself busy and so far it’s gotten him as far as he is now, making good progress.

To someone just starting out, Che suggests being nice to everyone you meet. He states that the industry is going to be full of people who are successful in many different ways, and many of them can have an impact on your career in the future. Che also expresses that no matter how successful you become, you never let your ego tell you that you’re above being nice to people. Staying humble and respectable to those around you, amazing qualities to have.
